End Of The Heat Wave & The End Of Centennial

Centennial Building falls!

Yep, Envi-Canada says it's "Over"! At least it's not AS humid as it was... Was feeling alright earlier, but as I ate supper and was getting ready for my nightly walk, my body is seizing up like the tin-man from the Wizard of Oz.
Even did some stretches to try and limber myself up a bit, but it was no use.
HA! Take that Environment Canada! I saw a pretty massive storm coming our way about 4 hours ago and now it's on their 'radar' (Not physically on it). - The weather report both on the Weather Network and Environment Canada was saying chance of thunderstorms this evening. So usually check out the radars to see what's coming and in the morning and all afternoon there was nothing on either of those two sites, so I checked my other sources and there was a 'wall' of a storm coming right for us around 9/10ish pm... When I left on my walk the two sites still had no warning, but now they do! Hopefully it's a good one!

Have had some epic battles with 'Jerkface the Wonder Squirrel over the last couple of days.
Seriously, this little... Jerkface, comes down the tree as I'm giving buddy his daily fix and as Buddy is at me, the jerkface will come closer towards us. Where we're at Buddy's home holes are just behind Buddy as he approached me, so when Buddy turns around to take the peanut back home, Jerkface the Wonder Squirel is practically on Buddy's doorstep. Total intimidating tactics.

So, I got my handy empty plastic ketcup bottle as a 'squirtgun', though I think I'm going to check the Dollarstore™  for an actual squirtgun... Though I may have missed the boat on that, seeing as they were bringing in Halloween stock the other day.... Anyhow, I squirt Jerkface with some water and it just runs under the lawn table, so I squirt under the table, it jumps up in the table (note, all this time Jerkface could be taking off up a tree, but no, it's a Jerkface! And so I take a break and it's on top of the table, the table it and it's equally jerkface buddies have been chewing away pieces of for their Winter nest! The tablecloth that is...
So there's a nice big beam of sunshine right on the corner of the table and what does Jerkface the Wonder squirrel do? It sprawls itself flat out on the table and looks right at me like, 'YEahh, this feels nice'.... So I lose it. And I empty my ketchup bottle out at the little sucker. Now, it runs up the tree.

While I was out later in the afternoon having a puff, I was being distracted by the squirrels flipping me off from up in the tree branches and I feel something on my foot. it's a small weight, but something's on it. I look down to see 'Buddy' standing on my foot. So that's no fear of me there. To just come right up when I'm completely unaware it's there and sit on my foot.Pretty cool little chipmunk. Oh, I saw Chippy today. There was the mother and the other young chipmunk that had a couple of dots or small patches of fur that made those two stand out a little more, but 'Buddy' has grown so much and is packing on Winter weight, so it's actually kinda hard to tell 'Chippy' from 'Buddy'... But when Buddy looks at me straight on, it's face is a lot more narrow than Chippy's.
I've mistaking Chippy for Buddy a couple of times right to the point of not really realizing who it was until Chippy was taking the peanut from my hand. Which is kinda cool because Chippy kinda disappeared for a while and before I actually had tried to hand feed Chippy.

So, the Centennial building in Fredericton here is going under massive reno's, it's going to be refurbished as the new Fredericton courthouse.
It's quite a feet as the building has 3 outward facing wings and one of the wings is being removed.

Check it out Yo!

From the NB Government's website on the building: "The Centennial Building, built to celebrate Canada’s centenary, was described as ultra-modern when it opened in 1967. Refurbishments will start this year, during Canada’s 150th anniversary. Offices are being vacated in anticipation of the work."

How the building will look:

Had some good times in that building. Which might be an odd thing to say about a government building.
Met then Premier Frank McKenna a few times while I was cleaning in there...

Used to put so many burnt out flurescent tubes in the garbage compactor that the cops would show up over the noise.
Jim Boucher and I used to drink up on the roof on Fridays... The basement had open access to the tunnels under the city, so maybe some exploring was done, maybe it wasn't....

The big question is, what the heck are they gonna do with the old courthouse?

Goddamnit!

Lookit this!

FUUCK! Want soo bad... But, I already have a Pushead deck, which I can't even skate anymore.... BUT, it's a piece of art... Damnit! I had been watching Conspiracy Skateboards in Texas over the years to see if they'd do another Pushead collaboration.

Dudes my favorite artist, even more so than H.R.Giger. Pushead has done artwork for Metallica, Rush, Prong, Misfits and possibly even Guns & Roses or someone of that ilk.

I've always wanted a Pushead tat... But I've been told to do an 'exact' Pushead is impposible because of his method of drawing, which I'm told is like dots, some kind of weird technique he does.. I mean, I'd be down for a reasonably hand drawn facsimile.
Something like this would be awesome, but there's even more incredible ones
So, I'll be good|! I won't blow my money on something I'll have to hang on my wall and look sadly at!
Naw I'd love looking at that on my wall. I love looking at the deck I've got!.

So, this shooter in Florida... Looking for a motive eh? How about he was a hardcore fanatic gamer! This was his living and these guys don't like losing.. Even the not professional guys hate losing.

You can go on Youtube and see thousands of candid videos taken of guys (and gals) freaking out because someone 'fragged their ass' (killed them in a game)...
I had a roommate that was like that.... Man he'd flip out... But I felt it was kinda more than that with him. It kinda bothered me that his biggest life moments, things he bragged about, moments he remembered fondly were all in a video game or another... I mean, I know, not everyone is lucky to get out of their hometown and do fun stuff, but even people who don't have more physical diverse memories and moments based in reality, things they did with other real people... Not that people playing the games are not real, but they are not physically with you.
And I've played video games. I get it, it's fun, I have fond memories of when I first started at Electronic Arts and one full entire Month, 30 days, ok, well, minus the weekends, we played video games 8 hours a day... That's not what testing was, this was just downtime and they paid us for that shit haha. But it was kinda sketchy, after 8 hours of shooting and very fast motions fired into your brain, it effects you. You'd get dizzy, you kinda get a bit of tunnel vision  and not really hallucinate, but you'd get the feeling you were still playing the game... It was kinda scary and probably not to mentally healthy... But that's what some people do for a living. This is a major thing and has been for a while now. A couple of those guys who got killed in Florida were making like $80,000 for winning tournaments, so it's pretty high steaks.

Just damn sad it happened, but not surprised.

We're in another sweat wave humidity is gonna hit 41°C. Today was around 38°. I wouldn't be surprised to see some more temps like this before the end of the Summer/Fall season. Things ain't as they should be, so expect craziness in the weather....
Also, I heard for a second time today that there's some type of correlation between how hot it gets in the Summer to how cold it'll get in the Winter... BUT, I'm not sure if that's true... I mean, +41°C Summer ='s -41°C in the Winter.... That's not cool.... That's insanely fucking cold man!

I do love the Fall and am lookin foward to it's cool embrace..

Oh! My doctors appointment! So the 'big deal' was that my cholesterol is like 2 points off.... BUT, I'm pretty healthy for the health I'm in. So that's good. She went through my bloodwork and everything is pretty normal a couple of things like a point off above or below... But I'm doing good for feeling like shit... It's kinda weird to be kinda 'healthy' but be in pain and have this arthritis eating away at me.

But as long as my ticker is going and I'm standin upright when I need to and laying down when I sleep. As long as I wake up each day and go to bed each night, things are alright!

Hereditary (SPOILER ALERT)

Just finished it! It too me several sittings... NOW, not because it's scary, but just because some films it takes me a few days to watch. What with the cat flying around the room and chores, snacks.. puff breaks... It just takes a while sometimes!

Great movie.. I don't know, when I watched the ending, I was kinda feeling, 'You know, this is how Rob Zombie's 'Lords of Salem' SHOULD have ended or something like it'... I always found the end of 'Lords of Salem' turned into some psychedelic music video and didn't make much sense.
The ending of 'Hereditary' made sense. So did the entire movie.

It was billed as 'Scarier than the Exorcist!' and rumored to be absolutely frightening. It had some great unexpected parts. 'Charlie' getting decapitated in the car, the Father catching on fire instead of the Mother... When the movie starts, 'Charlie' is such a unique child, you begin to think, 'Ok, this is the evil in this movie', but of course, thinking that, you soon find out that's all wrong.

But once the part with the Mother finding out about the witchcraft/Satanism involved and that the 'host'needed a male, I knew the Brother would survive unto the end and 'Charlie' would take over his body. Even though I deduced the end, it was still a great ending.

Between 'Lords of Salem', 'The Witch' and 'Hereditary', there is the witchcraft movie I'd like to make/see done.

I do highly recommend 'Hereditary', I'm sure you'll find it a great fright with some awesome twists and turns!

Now you want real suspense.... I'm waiting to find out why I've been called in about some recent blood work I had done... The doctor's assistant said on the phone that it wasn't 'dire'... But still....

We'll find out tomorrow! Stay tuned!

Deadpool 2 - Sunspots, Earthquakes & You

I gotta say. It's a good thing that I didn't watch Deadpool 1 or 2 in the theaters... I laugh at all of the most violent, vile and grotesque death scenes and amputations of generally several limbs.

It's happened before... Getting looks from people because you're laughing when everyone else is cringing, groaning or ducking (hands over the eyes!)

Anyhow, my good friend Mike Fields and his band of merry gore artists did another fantastic job with this one.

Probably these are the best of the Marvel movies and to be totally honest, I was never even a 'Deadpool' fan... As saucy as he might be, Marvel was always pretty wussy.,.. No one died or really got injured for that matter and if they did, well they sure as Hell didn't draw it... So then came along Todd McFarlane, and even his stuff wasn't violent enough...

But actually long before that was greater things in the 'Heavy Metal' magazines of the '70's and '80's.. Now they had some teeth to them, sex AND violence... Then around the time that McFarlane was losing money on his horrible film version of 'Spawn' some great work was coming out in the 'underground' comic scene. Indie comic book companies were starting to break through. They were starting to give consumers what they wanted, the violence, gore and sex they wanted.... But there's not many movies about them...

So I guess we just have to settle with Deadpool, I'm sure Ryan Reynolds pocket book won't mind.

Ugh... Horrible, they just threw some AC/DC in the soundtrack... even worser is that it's a song we covered in Dreamkick.... It is kinda awesome they got Mel-B from the Spice Girls in the movie... I don't think she's been doing much!

Sunspots.. yeah a big one facing our pale blue dot... AND, earthquakes lots of them... Even a 6.1 in Iran just moments ago. Some people believe that sunspots/solar outbursts and earthquakes are friends.
The Sun has had some pretty big spots of late, even though it's just quietly slipped into it's solar 'minimum'... The Sun, isn't a stable glowing ball of light it appears to us here on Earth, it's in fact a roiling boiling ball of confusion... Whoops, sorry, that's an old '80's song, which is a cover of a 1971 song titled 'Ball of Confusion' by the Temptations....
Anyhow, the Sun, goes through decade long (ok, it's 11 years) periods of outbursts and quiet time. We've just entered into an alleged 'quiet time'...erm time... BUT, just because it's in a solar minimum, does NOT mean, it can't have major and minor outbursts... Anyhoo.. In the last month, there's been a LOT of 5.5+ quakes... There's been a lot of 4.0+ quakes, but even more of them have been in the 6.0+ arena.... Alaska, Peru, Oregon, Venezuala (a few times), Vanuatu, Indonesia (several times) and Japan - All in the 'Ring of Fire' (it's not really a 'ring', it's more a squiggly line that goes around the Pacific land masses and islands...

We're, they're WAYYYYY overdue for the 'big one' on our West Coast... It could come anytime... So, be vigilant! Not a vigilante, but vigilant and be prepared.....

Someday, you're Worlds gonna git ROCKED.

Damn no pictures in this blog... Ok, random one coming at you.

It may not be pretty,,,,,,

'I Pet Goat ii' & 'Someone's In The Wolf

Albeit it, it's an older video now. On the eve of the year 2014 a video appeared on Youtube...

Shocking, strange, mystical and a little maniacal, the video is said to hold many secret and hidden messages about our future.
There was no information posted with the video, no explanations, but there's almost a hundred 'reviews', 'explanations' and 'meanings' done by independent people...

I think it's beautiful. it's humorous and entertaining... If not a little eerie .... What will happen in our future?

Shhhhhh.....

The Sun Blotted Out By Smoke & A Green Comet.... Doomsday?

When i got up today I couldn't help but notice that the sunbeams coming in the room had a reddish hue to them, which I thought was a little odd because there's not really any of the major forest fires burning near here.

Later today Environment Canada issued an 'Special Air Quality Statement' for the area and it stated that:
"A plume of smoke from fires in Western Canada is moving at high altitude across the Maritimes, causing hazy skies and a reddish sun. This smoke is not expected to reach the surface or affect air quality in our region. The smoke plume will move slowly off to the east tonight."

So the fires from out West are so intense, burning so mightily that the smoke has reached us here in Atlantic Canada (and I assume all regions West of us)
Image from GOES-East - Regional sector view: U.S. Atlantic Coast

And in the nighttime skies a 'green' comet makes it's approach to Earth:

From spaceweather.com: "A GREEN COMET APPROACHES EARTH: Comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner is approaching Earth. On Sept. 10th, it will be 0.39 AU (58 million km) from our planet and almost bright enough to see with the naked eye. Already it is an easy target for backyard telescopes. Last night, Michael Jäger of Weißenkirchen, Austria, caught the 7.7th magnitude comet passing through star cluster Tombaugh 5 in the constellation Camelopardalis":

Super crazy stuff!

So I was disappointed last night to find on my walk that near all the posters I put up around the Fredericton Market and Charlotte St. Arts Center were torn down... And they were torn down, they didn't climb off the poles themselves... Granted, it is technically 'against the law', but it's for a great cause, animals and the SPCA.. Plus, I considered those areas, well kinda arty, trendy areas, lots of young folk live around there.
Now it could very well be that the city took them down, as that street leads to the Queens Square park and there's a lot of city vehicles that travel along the street I put them up on.. Just kinda crappy, that if it wasn't the city, that someone would do that... Like why? You don't like music? You don't like animals? You don't like supporting both?

Some people's kids!

My condolences to my good friend Nancy over the loss of her Doberman 'Angie'.

More Blood Letting/ Owls & Aliens!

Well at least today it just took one poke and we had 3 vials full.. The bruise had just disappeared when I went back in today. AND, looks like I'll become a familiar face at the 'ol DECH blood clinic.
I have to go weekly, then bi-weekly then every month while I'm on methotrexate, which I can't start until this bloodwork is in.
Fun times ahead, but I promise you, unlike my DVLOGs that I had kept for over a year back in 2008 or whenever the hell it was, there will be no vomiting videos! Instead I'll just probably be seen in the news as I throw up all over public areas! Methotrexate is FUN!

From Wikipedia: Methotrexate (MTX), formerly known as amethopterin, is a chemotherapy agent and immune system suppressant. It is used to treat cancer, autoimmune diseases, ectopic pregnancy, and for medical abortions. Types of cancers it is used for include breast cancer, leukemia, lung cancer, lymphoma, and osteosarcoma. Types of autoimmune diseases it is used for include psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, and Crohn's disease. It can be given by mouth or by injection.

Yes, yes my friends, it is this drug that prohibits me from every having children... Most especially while I'm on the stuff, as if you read the above, it is a non-FDA approved abortion pill and even in my system if I should impregnate a lady, it would kill the fetus or severely deform it. Wonderful drugs these are... BUT, as much as some people may be happy to know that I'll never have children, I've never really planned on it anyhow.

I won't go into it's 'Side-effects', as just about every drug out there has 'side-effects'... But they are not fun, but neither are the one's for Embrel or Remicade or Humira.... With all those side-effects, many people have had great progress in diminishing their diseases.... Fun fun fun!

I found out last night, while listening to a PODcast on owls & aliens.... (Some people who have claimed to have been abducted by aliens, generally have some sort of interaction with owls and other creatures of the night)... While this PODcast was playing, the guy speaking played a sample of a horned screeching owl, erm screeching.... I heard Elsa in the living room and popped my head around the corner to catch her running like Hell under the bed for cover... despite the clip only running for about 20 seconds, she stayed under the bed for a good half an hour before she'd come out... Apparently there must be some primal animal instinct to run for cover from owls....

Give a Hoot! Don't pollute!

And watch out for the 'Greys'!

Punks 4 Paws!

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

"If Looks Could Kill, Then Death Would Be My Name"

Well, I just went outside and I thought it was 'Buddy' feeding at the bottom of the bird feeder and called to it for a peanut, and it came right over and as it was taking the peanut from my hand, I noticed it wasn't 'Buddy' at all, it was 'Chippy'! I don't see Chippy that often, it seems that chipmunks are quite territorial and I don't know if Buddy's been running everyone else off or if Chippy's just been feeding elsewhere. Anyhow, it's just kind nice to know he's still alive and running around.

'Chippy' in May 2018

The Bruiser
The Misfits

All I feel is pain it seems today
A dark angel leads me to evil far beyond the grave
Declares me a phantom demon I don't know
It just cannot be defied
At Hell this reflection stares at me
And then I lose my mind
It betrays me

Oh, In hell I'll burn in flames
Oh oh oh oh, If looks could kill then death would be my name
Oh oh oh oh, In hell I'll burn in flames
Oh oh oh oh, So come inside the fires feel

Angel of Death is bloodied now
He's the one inside
Tortured, scored that strike
Against the fear, it feeds the fire
Near me now, the demon's son
Bruiser I'm the one
Erase my soul for all your sins can never be undone
I can't contain it

Oh, In hell I'll burn in flames
Oh oh oh oh, If looks could kill then death would be my name
Oh oh oh oh, In hell I'll burn in flames
Oh oh oh oh, So come inside the fires feel the pain (whoa oh)
Feel the pain
The pain

Oh, In hell I'll burn in flames
Oh oh oh oh, If looks could kill then death would be my name (my name)
Oh oh oh oh, In hell I'll burn in flames
Oh oh oh oh, So come inside the fires feel the pain
Feel the pain
Feel the pain (whoa oh)
Feel the pain yeah
Feel the pain

'Batushka; Crazy Band From Poland

This was a 'Youtube' find. Who knows what I was watching at the time that this band ended up being a small 'box' on the 'Up Next' column.
There's a 'Hell 'Fest' live show that's pro-shot, but they don't have the 'back up'.... erm 'choir' with them.

BATUSHKA (Батюшка) "Polish black metal legion BATUSHKA are the latest additions to the Metal Blade Records’ US roster.

Pronounced “Batjushka,” the band’s Cyrillic name Батюшка means “father” and is used to address an Eastern Orthodox priest. Despite their themes and imagery, they are not a Christian band. The identities of the members are unknown, but they are involved with other bands. Their live lineup contains eight members." - Metal Blade Records.

It's like a cross between 'Ghost' & 'Zeal & Ardor'

This is a clip video of a performance, but will give you an idea of what we're dealing with here.

Did I write about these guys already...... Anyhow, they are a 'what I'm listening to now' band.

Just wicked.. original? Maybe not, musically outstanding? meh... But just damn wicked\! What can I say,I like the evil and ANYTHING that will make any religious faith feel uncomfortable... Because we should be made to feel uncomfortable.

And I feel very uncomfortable lol.. I feel like crap today, the humidity is all but gone, it's semi cool, I mean it's 26C but after near 44C weather for a month, 26 is 'cool'... And yes a definite change in the humidity. Take my word on it.,

You Know You're In The Maritimes When...

Had to laugh out loud when I saw this on my walk this evening:

Oh and this was a bit sad, I know a lot of amazing shows happened here and a lot of great times. I was only there a handful of times. But kudos to the Grindhouse gang... Sadly, the place is just a hole in the ground.

Up Close & Personal With 'Buddy' The Chipmunk

So I sat down with 'Buddy' today, put my DSLR on it's 'zoom' mode and got some great footage. When I ran out of peanuts, I let my hand dangle to see what it would do. It did 'nibble' on a finger, I do pull away, but it's more out of reflex than it actually 'hurting', because, it didn't hurt. I got a couple strokes along it's back in. Such a cute creature.

'Buddy' is definitely in prep for Winter mode... It's just hoarding food like mad!

Enjoy!

Hoping This Video Will Cheer Some People Up

It's been a rough week for the city. Hoping this video will bring some smiles to some faces.

I never expected the chipmunk to jump up on my camera.

Please, by all means, share around, especially with those feeling down.

Much love, Chris, Elsa and 'Buddy' the Chipmunk

Passing Of A Legend

One of the most powerful singing voices in the World passed away today at age 76.

While I can't even call myself a fan. Aretha Franklin's voice and powerful songs commanded the 'respect' that she sang about in 1967 and that song became an anthem on so many different levels for so many people, for so many reasons

Myself being born in the '70's but really getting into music in the 1980's, Aretha reached through each decade with amazing songs and I'd somehow always know when she had a new hit because it would be everywhere. She won a staggering 18 Grammy awards and sold over 27 Millions records as well as being the first woman to be inducted into the Rock'N'|Roll hall of fame.

All you other '80's kids cannot forget Aretha's hit single 'Pink Cadillac'

To quote lyrics from that song, "We wont' quit 'til we get to the other side".. Somehow I'm pretty sure Aretha won't even 'quit' singing on that side.

Of the songs I think I'd like the most is 1991's 'Everyday People'
Rest In Peace Queen of Soul

Review: Bluetooth 'JBL' Knock-Off Speaker

Ordered this bluetooth 'JBL' knockoff wireless "waterproof" speaker from Wish.com.

It arrived a near week ahead of it's "Delivery date" and it works pretty good:

Anyhow, here's my very first review of something I bought online! wish.com has plenty 'o' cheap shit, so many more reviews may come!

'Buddy' The Chipmunk & Elsa, It's Not What You Think

Just some clips I took today.

First, I went for a nap and Elsa jumped up on the bed and all of a sudden her nose turned into a magnet and she was trapped by some scent off the blanket... I don't know what it was, but she was hooked. I missed the footage of her turning away from the blanket and shaking her head... Was some odd behavior from an odd cat....

Next up, I was out back and 'Buddy' the chipmunk has been coming at me full tilt. Actually, I was out in the driveway earlier looking to see if a thunderstorm was heading our way and there's 'Buddy' charging up the driveway at me... I feel bad when I don't have a peanut on me for it (still unsure as to what sex 'Buddy' is)... If I don't have one, 'Buddy' just runs around me, waiting for it... So, I go inside and get one.

Over the Summer a new hole appeared in the backyard and in the last few days 'Buddy' has been stocking it up for the Winter.
The food cache must not be far underground because it will take a nut, dive down the hole and before you know it, it's back again!
So, I was going to show 'Buddy' feeding from my hand, but I dropped the peanut... And also in this vid is 'Jerkface the Wonder Squirrel'... It and it's friends have been watching me feed the chipmunks and now they think they can be in on it, but 'Jerkface' is bold and is not scared off easily. So it'll sit there and stare at me with this stupid look on it's face (as much as a squirrel can have a 'look' on it's face)

Lastly, Elsa was napping out in my chair... Good kitty or Bad kitty.,, You decide....

Pin Cushion Chris & A Missing Kitty

Had my appointments for bloodwork and x rays of my ribs today.

As I've been known to pass out during blood letting, I'm told I have to ask for a bed, which I did (it's more comfy that way anyhow)...

Laying down, a young nurse came in, "Date of birth and your name".... 'Chris Waddell, May 25th 1972'...
"Ok, I'm going to take some blood from you Chris". 'All good!' I replied...

The young nurse, says, "Which arm do they normally take blood from?" - 'My left arm' I answer.

"ok, small pinch here" - Inserts needle into my arm. "Hmm, having trouble getting the vein"....

"ok" She says, "We'll try your other arm"... 'All good!' I replied....

Nurse goes around the gurney, fixes tourniquet on my left arm, inserts needle... 'Geez, I can't get that vein, keeps moving around...' Let me go get another nurse.... 'All good!' I replied....

New nurse comes in.... "Date of birth and your name" 'Chris Waddell, May 25th 1972'....

"So, we're having some problems getting blood?"... 'Sound like it' I replied....

Nurse fixes tourniquet on left arm again, inserts needle....' Geez, you're making me work for my money today!'... 'All good' I replied....

'Ok, well let's try your right arm'..... fixes tourniquet to my right arm... 'Geez, I just can't get this vein!... Might have to try your hand'....

'All good' I replied....

Nurse inserts needle in my backhand.... "Nope, this just isn't working out... Jeez! You really are making me work for my money, let me go get another nurse"....

'All good' I replied....

Elderly nurse comes in... No questions... Ties tourniquet to my left arm again....

Inserts needle, "There we go, we got it now"....

'All good' I replied.... 'Can I get a drink please?'....

My Brother & Sister In-laws beautiful cat 'Paya' is missing in the Fisher Ave area of Marysville... She can be super shy. Please if you see her let me know ASAP

Sad day

I had just got back from Donnie's visitation with Nancy Brown and I went out back for a smoke. The squirrels have been watching me feed the chipmunks nuts, so now they think they can just waltz in and take part... But the squirrels over the chipmunks are so destructive, they run off the chipmunks, steal the peanuts, take over the bird feeder... Pain in the ass the tree rats are... Anyhow.. I was looking at my phone between yelling at the tree rats, when I felt something tapping my sneaker... I looked down and there's 'Buddy', tapping my foot with it's little tail.. Was so cute. I didn't have any peanuts on me, so I popped inside and came out to give it to it, her, he.. Whatever the chipmunk is..  That cheered me up a bit.

Were a lot of people at Donnie's visitation. So sad. Way too young, all of them. My heart and soul goes out to all the families, friends and children.
Still hard to wrap your head around all this. Can't imagine what it's like for those closest.

'Awake By Sunday'

Everyone is still reeling from yesterdays horrible nay devastating incident on Brookside Dr.
I've talked to friends and family from coast to coast about it.

When Dreamkick first started playing shows, we decided instead of just throwing ourselves into the bar scene, we'd play a few all ages shows, just to tighten the unit up, get the bugs out and have some fun.
We first played the Oromocto Rec Center and the second show we played was at the Oromocto Jr. High School (Harold Peterson).
At that show there was a throng of young Rockin' dudes right up front going crazy for us and one of them was a kid named Donnie Robichaud.
From then on, Donnie was a Dreamkick 'fan', along with the Murphy brothers, Sean Callahan, Chris Polchies and many others were frequently hanging and partying with the band. We even snuck Donnie in a few bars shows (though he was 19 yet) and he accompanied us on a few trips.

When I lived in Vancouver, Donnie had got in touch with me about his band 'Awake By Sunday', he actually sent me out one of their shirts, which I've been wearing today. He said he was having a blast

In 2009 I had come home for a visit and it was like January. Chris Galbraith and I went to 'Mama's' Pub on the city's Northside to see Donnie playing with 'Awake by Sunday', as you'll tell by the video below, the guys smoked songs out. Certainly would make all the guys in Dreamkick proud to see one of our young fans growing up and kickin' ass.
While at this gig, I had this crazy feeling overwhelm me. I'd been to all kinds of concerts out West, big small, wild, tame. But the feeling in this bar was so warm, like you were among family and that's true if you go to any local show, with any genre band. There's a warmth and feeling of family in every small town where a young (or old) band is rockin' the night away.

When the Wasteland Zombies were starting to get our reunion geared up, our original bassist couldn't join us, so we had asked Donnie if he'd dig out his bass to play with us, but he had had an accident some years previous and I believe he'd broken pretty much every bone in his hand, so he just couldn't do it.

Donnie was a really good soul. We kept on running into each other at Greco donair just up the street from me. The last time we say each other he said, "We ALWAYS see you here!!" I just laughed but later I thought, 'wait a second, you're always here too!'
He was an awesome guy, a fantastic musician and a caring father to his children.

He'll be greatly missed and so will Bobbie.

Bobbie I knew through my long, long time friend Jennifer Wright. Jen and Bobbi were like Siamese twins when they were together, inseparable and unstoppable.
Bobbie was charming, bright and bubbly, I know they will both be missed. As will the two officers who gave their lives to protect the city.

Here's Donnie playing bass with his old band 'Awake By Sunday'

He also played in a Fredericton Metal band called 'Awakened', they were formed after I left Fredericton, but I hear people talk about them to this day.

Though it'd be nice to dedicate a Dreamkick song to Donnie as well.

Rest In peace my friends.

Horrible Shocking Friday In Fredericton

Everyone woke up to shocking, frightening news that the Brookside area was under police lockdown and that two police officers and two citizens were dead after a gunman opened fire from an apartment building.
Information is still coming out. But at this point the gunman is in hospital as are several citizens that were injured in the shooting. They haven't said how many were injured. They are not too sure if there is more than one suspect, but it's looking like there was only one.

News agencies in the area, or at least Canadian ones have been saying that "This doesn't happen in Fredericton"... This is truly misleading... It doesn't happen often, but it has happened... From a sniper years ago on the train bridge to murders and other acts of violence. Again, it doesn't happen often, but it DOES happen and will most likely happen again at some point. In my opinion, reporting that crimes like this do not happen in this city is misleading at best. To people planning to move here, to tell them that this doesn't happen is flat out wrong. Beit, Moncton, Saint John or small towns up North, gun violence is no stranger here as it's no stranger anywhere else on the planet.

Now, this might piss some people off and I'm not trying to deflect this tragedy, but FUCK CBC news....
There was an interview with an RCMP officer who was sent in to help with the unfolding incident. Not many know, but the Fredericton city police are severely understaffed. Several officers are currently under suspension for various crimes...

But, back to the RCMP officer and the reporters.
This officer explained that as this was a fluid situation and he asked, almost pleaded with the press that they NOT report what witness' were saying until the police interviewed people, as witness' perspectives MAY not be accurate. The officer then asked that they not show him on TV, they immediately switched back to the main desk at CBC where the anchor woman said, "He said not to show him on television, but we're going to anyhow".... Like what the fuck ??? Really? That little respect for someone's wishes, let alone a police officer, trying to help the situation by asking to ensure that misleading and inaccurate reporting not be sent out to the World and the World IS watching, BBC, CNN, AP, NBC, CBS and all kinds of other World news agencies were reporting on it.

As a bit of humor, the CBC reporter who was reporting from the scene said, "This all happened not far from a very popular mall"..... The Brookside mall hasn't been "popular" since it opened....

The CBC news has been sliding downhill for years, their reporters are shoddy, their switching and interviews are shoddy, even switching from commercials to and from the news desk is often screwed up. Interviews are dropped... Horrible, horrible news reporting.
So I'm done with CBC as a 'news source' and I hope others will follow suit.

Ok, venting done... I hope everyone else is safe, my heart goes out to those who lost their loved ones today. Very sad incident.

Just to add some levity to this situation, check out this cover of Weezer's hit single 'Hashpipe'... The band felt they owed it to Weezer as the band had done great covers of  'Africa' and 'Rosanna'

In other news, today was the most comfortable day outside we've had in weeks. A great 40K wind and a temperature of only around 25C... Was a nice change, a nice change that after running some errands that I wasn't drenched in sweat when I got home. My back is a tad better today, but I'm taking it easy as I can feel that one wrong movement is going to bring me to my knees... It would seem, even with the weather getting more agreeable, my back isn't taking part.

FACK! And FRAK!

As I whined about yesterday, the weather's done fukin' havoc to my back... With the inclement weather that's settled in, last night, this morning was brutal.. So I slept as long as I could.

Waking up, I felt my back didn't feel too bad. I wasn't going to shower, but since after my shower yesterday and being out to run an errand or two, I was sweaty and I decided my back didn't feel 'too bad'... Famous last words...

Into the shower I went, after the shower, I was toweling off and you know, when you're drying yourself, you got to bend and twist and move to get dry, it was in one of these bends that it hit, like a jagged, electrical bolt of lightning from my ribcage, up my spine to my brain, telling the brain to release a howl out of my mouth, the shock of pain also made its way to my legs and my knees buckled, if the kids next door were in their driveway at the time they might have wondered what I was up to, the howl of pain, the long string of expletives that followed... Now, my back's the worst it's been... But hey, at least I'm clean...

(reasonably hand drawn facsimile of my agony)

I Was Going To Wait & Post This Tomorrow, But,,,

I just couldn't wait!

Brand new 'High On Fire'!

Song just freakin' motors!

'Messe Noire'

Well, my back has given up on me... Walked out the door it did... My X-ray for my rib-cage/back is next week, this, if you don't recall is attempt no#2. As the first time there was some miscommunication and they didn't x-ray my rib-cage, but just my back and spine... My 'stand in' nurse/practitioner had told me the x-ray would encompass all of it... She was wrong. So, I'm still in the dark about what's causing me so much discomfort and pain... With this near relentless humidity it's been getting worse and worse each day. Now instead of just starting to flare up around mid afternoon, it's going round the clock....

BUT! Today, my Behemoth 'Messe Noise' autograph bundle I ordered arrived! By tracking, up until late last night it was destined to reach me next Monday, then all of a sudden, BAM! There it was at Canada Post in Fredericton awaiting delivery today! So I'm about to dive into that! It has the entire 'The Satanist' album live from the band's hometown in Progresja, Warsaw, Poland. it also has a live show from the 'Brutal Assault' Festival in 2016 from Jaroměř, Czech Republic. PLUS! All of the videos they released from the album AND! A live CD of 'The Satanist' concert (audio from the DVD/BlueRay)
The package came with 3 signature/autographed guitar picks, a patch and the booklet for the DVD/BlueRay is autographed by Nergal, Inferno and Orion... The autograph is an actual autograph, the picks are done by the gajillions, but the guys actually signed the DVD cover, you can feel the autograph stands out from the package material.
Check it out!

Much thanks to the gang at the Behemoth Official band store. They were kind enough to send me the last remaining copy of the autographed batch of DVD's by the band.

AND! On the way home from Sobeys today, I ran into a Monarch butterfly! According to a July 14th CBC New Brunswick article this beautiful butterfly species has been in decline due to people cutting down milkweed, the rising amounts of hurricanes and cold weather.... Though it ain't cold now!!

The 'lil bugger didn't stay still long so these ain't the best pics, but matching up the colors with pics online, I'm pretty sure this was a Monarch.

It's amazing how much just a couple of degrees can make, as it's a little more bearable today. Tomorrow the daytime high is only supposed to be around +25 with the humidity around 31-35... But as I posted before, according to some scientist at Environment Canada, these hot humid temps will stick around until the end of August.

I also realized the other day that I totally screwed up. I had planned to go down to stay with Terry and Joanne Daly again this Summer and Joanne had said that the "August long weekend would be good".. Well, being the non working huemahn being I am, I figured this meant like the END of August, like the long weekend then, but Terry posted or rather 'shared' my profile photo on Facebook, which is a photo of the lake in their backyard... This made me realize they had meant THIS weekend past... So, I'm sure I'm still welcome to go down, but I had wanted to go down when Terry and Joanne were off work so I could spend time with them... I sometimes don't realize that holidays are coming up until like the Friday of the 'long weekends'.... So I don't know if I'll be heading down or not because I have a swatch of appointments right up until months end, all spread out over the coming weeks... I need to keep these appointments because my health has not been great and I'm wanting to know what's going on, as well as hopefully getting on some medicines to help me....

So, that's a bit of a bummer, as I probably won't see them until Christmas time now.

Well, time to sit back and blast some Behemoth

Mega-Storm The Sequel!!

kraaaakow!!! BOOOOM!!!! Then the sky bled! Like tears of blood the rain fell, causing anyone that touched it to scream in agony as the acid ate away at their flesh!!!
Ok, ok, over active imagination..... Here's what really happened...

Was short by sweet. Next storm, I promise I'll use my DSLR so i'll maybe get some much better footage... There was some amazing fork lightning. Huge thunderclaps and of course my power was out for about 2 hours or so.

MAY be more tonight... Forecast says more on the way in the next two days!

And always remember... Stop, Drop and Roll.... Except for with killer bees, with that, you just want to breath as heavy as you can at them... They HATE oxygen, it really pisses them off... So be sure to breath as much as you can at them... Even if you pass out or they get in your mouth and your throat swells...

Lesson Learned....

Never brag to the new-ish neighbors that the 'power never goes out here'.... it was only about 2 hours, but that's long enough... Man, this place, my places insulation sucks./. I had been running the A/C just in case the power went out and it was hot as hell in here within about 20 minutes of losing the power!

Anyhow, that was a very short intense storm. From talking to friends on the phone I found that the power was out all over the city, but on in a lot of other places... The 'nodes' for power are a weird system, how power can be out across the street and on on the other side...

I got some vid, gotta check it out to see if it's worth uploading... And who knows, maybe more storms are coming...

HEADS UP - Fredericton and Surrounding Area!!!

Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Fredericton and Southern York County

Issued at 15:15 Tuesday 07 August 2018

At 3:15 p.m. ADT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. ### Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Always An Adventure When I Step Out The Door

Soooo.... Weather Network says it's 42C/102F outside. I had to pick up a couple things at Sobeys, so I head over. A big storm had just skirted the city and you could hear the thunder, but by the looks of the clouds I'd make it to the grocery store and back... Mind you, by the time I got home I was drenched in sweat, so had it rained or not, the end result was the same.

As I'm coming out of Sobeys, there's a grey/gray van parked with this elderly lady sitting in the front passenger seat. The driver's side window is down and so is her's and her door is open.. Even before I stepped onto the sidewalk, you could hear her yelling something.. Something about "Where is granddad???? Why Isn't he here????"... As I'm getting closer she starts to call out to me to help her.. So, I mean, I'm honest about this, I'm no strong man, I can't lift anyone.. I don't have first aid.... But I go over and ask if she's ok and she rambles on about her "'care taker' left her and she's confused as she doesn't know where she is or where she went, she went into the store, but it's been so long, maybe she's not there... Can you help me find her?"... I'm kinda torn here... If I take this lady from the van, what if whomever her 'caretaker' is misses us and comes back to find her gone? But it's freakin 42C and it's blistering hot.. I mean, it's not like they locked her in the van... She has her seatbelt on and I ask her to removed the belt for me and she just blankly stares at me... So I ask again, same result... Then she begins to plead with me to help her find whoever she's with... So i reach in and unbuckle the seatbelt and she thanks me... Now, I don't know if she's going to fall, I don't know if she can walk from where we are to the Sobeys doors. So I ask her to wait and I'll go get help, but she begins to plead with me again, not to leave her, "please help me".... So, She gets out of the van and begins to thank me as we walk towards the Sobeys... She's rambling about some woman who went into the store and she doesn't know where she is, how long has she been there? why did she leave??
My game plan is to get her to the customer service check out, as at least IF this person she was with is checking out, they'll at least see her, as you have to pass by the customer service as you leave the store... We're just about at the doors, when an elderly gentleman is coming out and this lady says, "OHH there he is! Where have you been? Why did you leave me".... I said to the man, 'I'm sorry I took her from the van, but she was pleading with me to take her in the store to find.. I guess you'... He thanks me, she thanks me..
Poor lady, either in the grips of dementia or Alzheimer's disease... Whatever the case is, whatever 'bother' this man had felt she might have been.. I don't think leaving her in the van in the parking lot with this heat was the right choice.. It is bitching hot out, so not everyone is thinking right...But when he left, she could have just wandered off. I think someone like that should have an eye on them as much as possible...
Was a sad situation.

The Mega-Storm of DEATH!

Here it is! 20 minutes of death, destruction, decrapitations! Ok, it's just an awesome storm!

Hope ya'll who were in the dark, now see the light (hope your power's back on)....

As you'll tell by the video, the storm intensified very very quickly! So if you're out and about and have seen the potential for severe electrical storms, be sure to be wearing your metal hat and as much metal on your body as possible. If struck by lightning: Stop, Drop & Roll!

Such A Tease

We got hit by a doozy! Over 4000 people without power in Fredericton and the area.... Our power here stayed on, but it's a blackout from behind my place to the river.
Weather report says more coming. The first storm, which I'm processing the video now, was incredible. Then a second storm with the most amount of sheet lightning I think I've ever seen came through. I'm gonna post this now, but then repost once I get the video up. I also have video of the second storm, but that won't get up until tomorrow.

I can hear the thunder looming way over the Northside... Did we get a drop of rain? Nope.. Got real dark around 6;30, it looked promising, but noooooo.... Even had the 'warnings' come in from E-Canada....
An article on CBC New Brunswick is saying that age old heat records are set to drop from earlier today to Wednesday.
Just reading that article and it says, "heat wave is coming from air flowing in from a high-pressure system over Bermuda and is expected to persist until the end of August."

Hunkered down with the kitty and my A/C today. Did sweet fuck all, slept, watched movies... Watered the flower boxes, as they neighbors put in some carrots for me (one of the only vegetables they are growing I can eat - If cooked)... So I figured might as well help out, as they do so much for me. [This is when the storm hit - Stay tuned...]

And You Thought It Was Hot Before...

Last week, I think it was Wednesday or Thursday we hit 40°C (Around 100°F)... Earlier this evening the Weather Network put out a 'Weather Alert' statement that warned of extreme heat coming tomorrow. The message says that the 'Humidex' will reach 41°C so that's 105.8°F! I think I might just stay home tomorrow.... Again, Praise the almighty spaghetti Monster that my air conditioner that's over 15 years old is still kicking ass and taking names!

I decided to eat outside because it's so nice and I was sitting at the picnic table my neighbors bought last Summer... I was keeping an eye out for 'Buddy' as it's prone to come around if it sees me out there.
I turned around to see that the chipmunk I've dubbed 'Noid' because it's super paranoid of me, was actually up on my stoop at the top of my stairs. It's not too hard to figure out if it is 'Noid' or 'Buddy'.
If it's Buddy it'll run right too me. Sometimes it's a bit stand offish, but it seems when I say certain words it'll hop forward toward me. Anyhow, I figured it was Nid when I tossed a couple peanuts at it and it just sat there looking at me... Well, check out the video.

I don't know how I don't end up smashing my cane all too bits when I'm out walking and listening to AMEN... I'm telling you, there was never anyone more crass, obscene and pissed off than Casey Chaos of AMEN.
It's truly music that makes me want to break stuff. They had been working on a new album, but I haven't heard anything about the band or anything from Casey Chaos in quite a while. Could be he's not well again or that he's just dumped social media, which isn't a bad thing.

Justified
Amen

This is it in the lions share
Tied to this bed + I can't stand no more

Do you need what I need
In this vault of disease

Take your sides content to bleed
Your revolution died with all your greed

I set the time to all the lies
Of those in bed without a bind

Inside this church
We will burn all the lives
Of the women
Inside this church
We will burn all the lives
Of the damaged

Unjustify. Killed desire

Do you bleed what I bleed
In this house of disease

Genocide in where I live
I can't forget too much + can't forgive

I'm just a fool with severed eyes
With severed lies with seven eyes

Inside this church
We will burn all the lives of the women
Damaged, damn, live, living, living

Unjustify

Get up and walk away
From this blaming halo

Got to move and set fire
To your church

Move to the living
Justify the testified...petrified...obey
Walk away it's just a flaming halo
In this blame invention

Get up and set fire
To your church

WTF Buddy!

Went to wash a dish and looked out the window to see 'Buddy', the little chipmunk who will come right to me and well, I dunno what the heck it was up to... Maybe playing, maybe just being a weirdo...
I'll soon take my camera out with me to get some video of 'Buddy' taking peanuts from my hand.
Just a bit ago, two chipmunks, Buddy being one of them were at the feeder. I completely cleaned out the bird feeder today, so it's nice and clean, but I dumped the remainder of what was in the feeder onto the ground to put fresh feed in... Anyhow, chaos broke out as the two fought for food and I swear to god, they both did figure 8's around my feet.
I thought for a moment one of them might run right up my leg... Ok, if I'm wearing pants, but in shorts it might be a bit awkward!
Anyhow, here's 'Buddy' being weird...
