Atmospheric Special Effects - Elves, Sprites & Blue Jets

There's something really funky that occasionally happens high above thunderstorms. These anomalies have mythical names, 'Elves', 'Sprites' and not so oddly named, 'jets'.

According to Wikipedia:

Sprites:  Sprites are large-scale electrical discharges which occur high above a thunderstorm cloud, or cumulonimbus, giving rise to a quite varied range of visual shapes. They are triggered by the discharges of positive lightning between the thundercloud and the ground. The phenomena were named after the mischievous sprite, e.g., Shakespeare's Ariel or Puck, and is also an acronym for Stratospheric/mesospheric Perturbations Resulting from Intense Thunderstorm Electrification.

Elves:  ELVES (Emission of Light and Very Low Frequency perturbations due to Electromagnetic Pulse Sources) often appear as a dim, flattened, expanding glow around 400 km (250 mi) in diameter that lasts for, typically, just one millisecond. They occur in the ionosphere 100 km (62 mi) above the ground over thunderstorms. Their color was a puzzle for some time, but is now believed to be a red hue. ELVES were first recorded on another shuttle mission , this time recorded off French Guiana on October 7, 1990

Blue Jets: Blue jets are believed to be initiated as "normal" lightning discharges between the upper positive charge region in a thundercloud and a negative "screening layer" present above this charge region. The positive end of the leader network fills the negative charge region before the negative end fills the positive charge region, and the positive leader subsequently exits the cloud and propagates upward. It was previously believed that blue jets are not directly related to lightning flashes, and that the presence of hail somehow leads to their occurrence.

What's really kinda cool, is that there are those in the science world who believe that these anomalies were once much more visible and common in the past.
According to Robert M. Schoch in his book, 'Forgotten Civilizations', he believes that in the ancient past, some sort of catastrophe occurred either with the Sun or from deep space that caused these atmospheric anomalies to be seen by early huemahns but not just witnessed, these otherworldly features were much more prominent and prolific than they are in our time today. The Sun has been around for billions of years and we huemahns have only been around for 200,000 years. So, we have not seen the Sun and other deep space disruptions in catastrophic times. The Sun, in our time, has been relatively stable. Disasters like the 1859 'Carrington Event', that friend powerlines and blew headsets off of operators heads causing burns, was caused by a solar disruption unlike anything in recorded history. And it's believed the Sun can be much, much more intense with it's fits and eruptions than we've ever seen yet. Schoch believes we're over-due for some sort of major solar disruption. It's these kinds of mass disruptions that Schoch and other's believe that the ancients saw in very moving ways.
It's Schoch's and other's beliefs that ancient cave art and even the texts from Easter Island show that ancient ancestors recorded these anomalies in cave art and on their ancient texts.

Experiments done by Anthony Peratt show eerie similarities between plasma 'figures' and petroglyph art from around the globe.

Kinda neat huh!? So, given that in ancient times huemahns were bombarded with all kinds of world and spacial anomalies they surely didn't understand. Given that the Sun goes through all kinds of crazy phases of storms, throwing plasma out into space and sometimes directly at the Earth. What was good for them back them was that they had no electronics (that we know of, though some speculate that the Giza pyramids were actually huge power generators - I don't subscribe to that crappy hypothesis) to be fried, but it's believed by Peratt, Schoch and others that in the ancient past solar eruptions or supernova or possibly immense gravitational waves caused crazy atmospheric 'illusions' that the ancients tripped out over. Some think that the notion of 'angels', 'demons', 'aliens' and 'creatures' came from the skies, recorded by frightened and shaken ancient people's or their shamans.
With this in mind, I came across a recent photo of some 'Sprite' activity that is quite astounding. Looking at these photo's, one can see how in the ancient world, looking through ancient eyes, that seeing these anomalies would certainly be a highly moving experience.
Does that photo not look like two entities, with arms and some type of long flowing 'dress'. Possibly 'angels' or 'demons'?

Look at the above image and imagine, and it's hard for us to try to think with ancient eyes and minds. We've grown up with all kinds of knowledge pertinent to our current World and world view. But think as a primitive, being witness to this crazy image. One might think it's a host of  'angels', 'demons', monsters... You'd think this would be such a profound experience, that one might want to record what they saw, for their time and future times. And again, some in the science World believe that these anomalies were much more prevalent and closer to the ground than they are today.
