Oh yeah! It's sounds like it's shaping up to be a doozy; Snow, rain, ice pellets, freezing rain, high winds, blizzard conditions... it's got it all!
According to Environment Canada, the 'Special Weather Statement' issued at 3:36PM AST
"Special weather statement in effect for:
Fredericton and Southern York County
Winter weather on the way for Wednesday.
A low pressure system approaching from the southwest will cross the Maritimes Wednesday night, bringing milder temperatures, fairly strong winds, and a mixed bag of precipitation to New Brunswick. Snow will begin ahead of this system Tuesday night in the southwest and spread northeastward. Current forecast guidance indicates that the snow may change to ice pellets mixed with freezing rain by Wednesday afternoon, and possibly then to rain along the Fundy Coast. Travel may be difficult on Wednesday and some areas may experience periods of reduced visibility in snow and blowing snow. The precipitation will diminish to scattered flurries Wednesday night as the system moves off. Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 40 cm are possible."
Ok, so not , 'high winds', but "fairly strong" ones.... Sounds like fun! Though the timing is off, should be happening on February 14th, so all those lovers would be shacked up and you know what people do when they can't go out during storms...... play Yahtzee©!
During the great ice storm that Quebec had, ages ago now, the upswing in births 9 months later was easily pinpointed to that very storm! So maybe celebrate romance with your loved one or one's on Wednesday during the storm instead!
Either way, prepare, ya never know with these storms now and it doesn't seem to matter how strong the winds, how often they occur, how many outages happen... It always seems that these storms can knock out power. Get your generators gassed up or charged up. get water, food, blankets, flashlights with an ample amount of batteries, candles (but be careful with candles ok folks) and...
NEVER, EVER, EVER run your gas generator or any gaseous machine in your home or close to air intakes... Otherwise, this storm might be your last....
At least this fucking cold stretch is over (again) for now.
