A Cure For Autism?.... Or Just Insanity Running Amok.....

[Please note: To my friends who have autistic children, I am by no means assuming that homeopathic or naturopathic regimes cannot help your child, to be honest I know very little about autism or what the challenges may be involved with raising an autistic child... BUT, to me, just in my own opinion, "rabid dog saliva" is not something anyone should be giving ANYBODY, even if it has been repeatedly diluted in water]

So I don't how many of you might have seen this article, making it's way all over the place. In fact, the original story I believe came out about a year or so ago and made World news at that point.

"Controversial naturopath gives up licence, says work 'not going to change'" reads the CBCnews.com stories title...

About a year ago, a "naturopath" in British Columbia made World news after it came out that she had administered a child with Autism, who was having nightmares about dogs and werewolves, as well as violent outbursts... The "naturopath" says that she doesn't diagnose children with autism, but relies on the parents to come to her... But this one child, who had been attacked by several dogs within a four year period, including the childs own grandfather's dog, who had to be put down after the child was attacked...
So, this quack/hack, made some concoction that had and I quote, "Rabid dog saliva" in it.... That's right... She gave a child, a serum that had RABID DOG SALIVA in it, in hopes to 'cure' the child's autism or at least abate the symptoms that the child was manifesting....

From the CBC article:
"Zimmermann made headlines around the world in the spring after she wrote a blog post claiming she had used a homeopathic solution called lyssinum to bring a four-year-old with behavioural problems "back into a more human state from a slightly rabid dog state.""

Yes, yes my friends, these are exactly the type of stupid huemahns that inhabit our World.... Sure sure, there are naturopathic and homeopathic remedies that are beneficial, I won't argue that. But it would seem the logic this dumb ass so called "naturopath" came up with was, "Well the boys having nightmares of dogs and werewolves and acting wild, sooooo.. why not make something from a wild dog and badda-boom-badda-bing....The child will be cured!'
That the parents would fall for such nonsense, leads me to believe that people like this "naturopath" and the parents of this poor child are the same type of people who would fall for becoming a scientologist or a mormon or a jehovah witness...

Now this concoction that she made, lyssinum, IS approved for us by Canada's FDA, it's made by repeatedly diluting saliva from a rabid dog with water....... Yes! You too can 'Cure autism' by milking a wild rabid dog of it's saliva!
Personally, I'd love to see how this is done... Is there a rabid dog farm where they milk these dogs of their precious life changing serum of saliva? How can you ensure the dog has 'good' rabid saliva?

What in the name of batshit crazy is lyssinum used for in the first place?? Why and how did someone even come up with this???

When one 'Googles' 'lyssinum'?  You will find it perhaps even MORE shocking that 'lyssinum' can be made not only from rabid dog saliva but also from "diseased huemahn"!!!! WHAT THA FUCK????

I'm sorry, I'm open minded, I am, I've taken all kinds of  'cures' and done homeopathic treatments that would allegedly 'cure' my psoriatic arthritis and because ALL of those failed, I would have to say I don't have much faith in naturopathic/homeopathic treatments, again, there is some good stuff out there, but there's also some bat shit crazy shit out there! I think the parents should be given a good fucking slap upside the head... For a couple reasons... This child was attacked 4 times by dogs within a few years.. WHY? How does one child end up being attacked that many times (and of course one being certain that the dog was the grandfather's and it was put down) and I'm not blaming the child here I'm blaming the fucking parents... Of course the kid is having nightmares about being attacked by dogs... That's no fucking mystery... The other reason the slap would be good is because they'd 'go for this' treatment in the first place.
Now, I don't have children and at that, obviously i don't have a child or children with autism or any ailments. I know friends who do have children with autism... I don't know what kind of desperation one might be in that they would turn to some 'treatment' like 'rabid dog saliva'... I mean, if I was a parent and I think a good parent would look into what some naturopath was wanting to give my child and I read that 'lyssinum' came from fucking rabid dogs, I'd be like no fucking way and maybe consider taken an assault charge for slapping the naturopath upside the head for suggesting it!

So, this lady, surrendered her licence "voluntarily" BUT she will still practice homeopathy, which is not regulated in British Columbia.
"Deputy college registrar Phillipa Stanaway said in an email that the college "strongly recommends the public choose a registered health professional when seeking health-care related treatment.""

Crazy crazy World.....

Now, where's a nice rabid dog I can go milk of it's saliva and sell to people!

Carrot!

So, not this last Summer, but the one before that, my neighbor Brad built he and his wife Haley two box gardens out of pallets. The first Summer season was amazing, they had some kind of lettuce, cucumbers (which while they were away I filled my fridges crisper and then some), Tomato's and hot peppers. The cucumbers and peppers were the boon of that harvest, but then this past Summer, it was horrible, barely anything grew...
As I have so many allergies to fruits and vegetables... Oh, must I explain this again?

Ok, when I was a kid, when i ate the salads that Mom made for us, I'd end up with an itchy pallet, a bit of asthma, itchy eyes, watery nose and sometimes small welts around my lips and cheecks... CLEARLY a reaction to something I was eating... I knew it was the vegetables, but Mom would MAKE me sit at the table until I'd finished it all, then she'd be on my case about always having a 'cold'... I was always sneezing, always stuffed up... So by around my teens I had figured out I was allergic to a plethora of fruits and vegetables.
The above listed symptoms come about when I eat, raw apples, pears, strawberries (but I can have raspberries) peaches, grapes, lettuce, raw tomato, raw peppers, raw carrots and on and on.

When I moved to Vancouver in 1994 I managed to get an appoint to go see an allergist about this life long issue I have had.
So, I got tested with everything from pollen to animals saliva, from tomato's to rice. When the test came back and the allergist took me aside to read me the results, he said that 'rice' was my biggest allergy... And it was like being hit with a pike to the forehead... 'Wait... What??... Rice?? No no, that cannot be right' I explained to the doctor... I've had these reactions since I was a child and I know that some allergies can be latent, it can take hours or even a day before they 'kick in'. So I said to the doctor, 'Ok doc, there's something wrong here, because I know with every fiber I'm made up of that I am NOT allergic to rice. NO way that I am.
So he said to me that the test can have "false positives"... 'So', I thought, 'The whole test is skewed then, because If rice is my BIGGEST allergy and that's incorrect, then what else is wrong?'.... So, I never saw the doctor again and I know, what I'm allergic to and I do my very best to stay away from eating those things.
But I'm constantly met, when out with family or friends, or guest at a dinner, with "Oh, You just don't like fruits and vegetables"... Which makes me feel bad and it shouldn't.. What idiot wouldn't want a beautiful salad filled with greens and peppers or a big 'ol fruit salad... I'D LOVE to eat a salad, but I can't. None of my reactions are deadly, lol at least thus far, but the reactions make it thoroughly not worth eating those things to which give me reactions.

SO, back to the neighbors gardens, this year they did an experiment for me, since I can have cooked carrots, they grew some carrots...
So despite it being a rotten season for the box gardens, tonight they presented me with the fruits of our labor in the carrot department....
Pen added for scale

So that's my carrot! The only survivor!

We're all stumped as to why the harvest was so dismal this season. I felt bad because when they went away for a couple weeks I was in charge of watering the gardens and I did, but in that time they were away was when we had crazy crazy rain storms, it was a weird Summer weather wise, so we wrote it off to that. I don't thin it was anything I did, but just the Summer itself.
Next Spring I think they are going to replace all the soil or something like that, so maybe there will be a better carrot plunder next Fall. Much thanks to my neighbors for trying!

Don't laugh at my carrot!

'High On Fire - Electric Messiah'

As embarrassing as a it might for a 'Metalhead' to confess that I'm a late fan of bands like 'Behemoth', 'Sleep' and Matt Pike's other band 'High on Fire', it's never too late to join the fray.

Watching several of the 'Southern California' documentaries on the 'Stoner Rock/Desert Metal' scene (How many documentaries does one scene need??), I was introduced to bands like 'Yawning Man', 'High on Fire' and 'Sleep'... having been a KYUSS fan since the release of 'Blues For The Red Sun', I was always under the notion that KYUSS was not the tip of the iceberg, but practically the only band from that area. Over the years, watching interviews with ex Kyuss members and Josh Homme of KYUSS/Queens of the Stone Age fame, I began to get the picture of just what kind of scene had influenced them in their youths in the Palm Springs area.
Great docs like 'Low Sound Desert', '420 Trainwreck', 'Such Hawks, Such Sounds', and 'Lo Sound Desert' ( I told you there were a few!), give great insight into an area of the United States, cut off from great gigs, secluded from 'Grunge' back in the day, the area around Palm Springs, sprouted amazing bands and artists because the place was a shithole. I think it's akin to many places around the globe, small backwater (or backdesert) towns in butt-fuck nowhere, kids had nothing to do but work on their 'art', it was either that or go to jail as 'idle hands are the Devil's workshop' and if that quote rings true, then the Palm Desert scene is proof in the Devil's pudding.
I've always loved the desert, even before I 'found' KYUSS it was a place we'd visited when I was in my mid teens. Driving through Death Valley, sitting on the edges of the Grand Canyon, I loved the place, I still do, if it were not for the US medical system, I'd move to Arizona, Nevada or Southern California in a heartbeat.
So a few months ago, watching all these 'Stoner Rock Docs', I heard 'High on Fire' for the first time, not like 'Sleep', 'High On Fire' is more Metal than Stoner Rock.
Formed in 1998 out of the ashes of what was left of the band 'Sleep'. The band has garnered itself a great cult following worldwide, I think Pike having been in 'Sleep' and since 'Sleep' had faded away, 'High On Fire' was the best replacement for the void that 'Sleep' left, albeit, as I noted 'High on Fire' is more Metal than 'Stoner Rock'.

'High On Fire' just released their 8th studio album 'Electric Messiah' October 9th 2018 and holy shit does it rip! Amazing album filled with tuned down low, rumbling songs about Sumerian gods, evil wizards and other 'Metal staples', the album is mind blowing.
Favorite track thus far is 'Drowning Dog'

And the title track is amazing as well:

I've got this album cranked and I'm thinking it'll be cranked for a long time!

Man, thank fukin gawd that elections over. Holy shit. There's like NO News sources that don't involve politics, since this Trump ridiculousness began, politics have been crap... and in Canada not better.
Anyhow, we got like a year or two before they ramp up to do the same thing over and over... I've said it before, but our (the World's) entire political system is broken, there's not 1, not ONE government that's not 'with' the people. Not one Nation helping it's people. Any politician that surfaces that MIGHT not be yet corrupted is soon turned.
I'm not 'anti-government', I'm not a protester, I'm not an anarchist, I just think the global system is broken and huemahnity is rotten. Could these be the 'end times', the spiral to the death of our civilization? History does repeat itself and the global mindset is much akin to the Romans.

Anyhow, I used to like politics, not so much these days, I'm more apt to read a headline of a story and jump right to the 'Comments section', just to watch the monkeys fling their shit at one another.

I'm still up for being shot off into space!

Another Storm Cometh!

D'ats right! Another 'storm' is heading our way! Saturday 'The Weather Network' says to prepare for snow, rain, wind and killer bees. Fredericton (or a little South) seems to be the cut off point for snow.
Winds will be stronger the more South you go. For Fredericton, at this point and things MAY change, could certainly change for better or worse by Friday night/Saturday morning.

But the winds at this point are forecast for Fredericton are around 50k, while in SJ expect winds around 70K...

But forget the storms and rain and cold... Come with me and sail the....

'On and on and on.....'

Oh no!! 'Anyone remember the 'Ball Park Incident'?

I Just Don't Get It

So many other places she could sleep and be covered in darkness, but no, you have to press your face against the sofa chair.

Behold: The Might Of the Wind & Some Thoughts On Legalization (A few weeks later)

I was walking down York St. this afternoon and happened to look up and couldn't believe my eyes.
The metal roofing of this house/apartments had been peeled right back. Like some giant huemahn had stood on the roof and gripped the edges of the roofing then peeled it right back.

Sorry, the angle is kinda off and it's hard to tell. I'll 'blow' up the photo as best I can.

Crazy eh? I've seen damage by storms done all over the place, I walked around and got photo's after hurricane 'Arthur' hit us, but I ain't seen a roof 'peeled' back like that around here before.
Some business and homes are still without power now. Schools around Fredericton were closed today. That was one wicked wind!

Something occurred to me today as I was out, it's been a few weeks since 'legalization of marijuana' hit Canada.
In that time, I've note seen ONE person out smoking weed in public... Even out of downtown, haven't seen a soul, puffin away at a joint or ripping away at a bong.
I've not smelled the sweet odor of pot in the air. I've not walked by a backyard where a group may be gathered, walked by a doorway where the smoke was wafting off, into the domain of say an average citizen who doesn't smoke pot.
I've not seen people passed out on the sidewalk or in parks or in a food court... I've not seen convenience stores attacked by ravenous 'potheads', in a demonic possession by the evil weed clawing and grasping for any snack to cure the 'munchies'!

I love by two pretty busy intersections... I've not seen any mass pile ups of cars, filled with 'stoned' drivers, smashing into innocent drivers or pedestrians... To end this, the World hasn't fallen apart, our Nation has not crashed nor is violently spinning into Hell. No, it's as the 'mainstream news' calls it "A nothing burger"....

I've also seen lots of complaints, from the products being 'too expensive' and 'too much packaging', this and that. Of course no matter what they did/do people were going to complain.
But I thought of it the other day and I mean, an entire Country, our Country just legalized a drug that's been illegal since 1923. Opposition to the current government says that the party didn't give enough time, yes or no, still no matter what they did or how they did it or how long it took them, NO ONE is gonna get it right the first time. It was a massive undertaking.

So, give it time. Be patient.... Soon enough you'll see potheads passed out everywhere!!

'Twas A Dark & Stormy Night.... Really!

Near 48 hours of rain, then there was, and probably should have been a wind warning for last night (Saturday Nov. 3), but the forecast in written text said "Winds up to 80km/hr" But there wasn't an actual 'Wind Warning... I had just written a reply email to the fam saying that 'high winds were forecast but would probably be a dud'....

Around 8PM the winds whipped up. I had just finished some delicious hot wings that my neighbours were so kind to offer me.

I stepped outside for a toot and noticed the winds had REALLY picked up. I looked out back towards Queens Square and it was plunged into darkness... Then...

I was out today to get a few things and didn't really see any damage, but a friend told me about an Irving gas station on the city's North-side that certainly suffered some damage:
Irving gas station on the city's North-side was severely damaged (Ed Hunter/CBC)

While Environment Canada and The Weather Network (which carries the weather statements from Environment Canada) both said that "high winds" were expected and Environment Canada's daily forecast said in text that "high winds" up to 80Km/hr could surface, I think they should have been more forward with the wind warning. The only part of the province that had a legit 'wind warning' from EV Canada was the North.
In my video I said winds of 100km/hr were present, the CBC article on the storm said that winds reached 110km.hr in New Brunswick.

I know, I'm sorry, a lot of you have businesses, family's, small kids.. it's a headache for the power to go out. An inconvenience... But I love the storms and I don't care if the power goes out, but admittedly, when the power is out for a long time (and again, my place is usually hooked up pretty quickly) it can be annoying...
I'm thinking this Winter is gonna be a doozy. Snow in October, the storm, not really a BIG deal, it's not like we haven't had some great storms in September, October OR November, but it's a feeling in my gutty works... Farmer's Almanac is saying a cold dry Winter with loads of snow. I forget how many storms for the season, but I do believe there's supposed to be a storm or 2 before Christmas... So that right there puts this Winter ahead of last as we didn't have significant snow until Christmas... We drove down to Saint John in a snow storm.
I still gotta pick up a small snow shovel and some salt for my steps, then I'm all set.
Albeit I'm usually prepared for emergency's, I found myself fumbling for new batteries for my flashlights and lanterns, so today I stocked up on batteries of all sizes and got a new LED light, though it's a Dollar-Rama special and isn't quite luminous as I thought it might be, so I'll hit one of the other stores tomorrow and see if I can find something a little better.

Photo of Elsa earlier. She looked all sleepy waking up from her nap. Not a bad pic for the bitchy kitty.
Still looks like she wants to rip my face off!
