Termination Shock

[Updated]
The termination shock is the boundary marking one of the outer limits of the Sun's influence, and is one boundary of the Solar System.

The bow shock is a shock wave formed at a distance of 3-4 Earth radii or so in front of the nose of the magnetopause by the encounter of the supersonic solar wind with the "obstacle" to its flow presented by the Earth's magnetic field.

'It's A Lie' - Was my attempt to pull off a Chris Cornell 'like' vocalization. Local business owner Sue Lawrence' used to boast that I was "Fredericton's Cornell"... A compliment I can hardly digest. I've never couched myself as being even a proficient singer. I just did what I did and tried my best.

The Rumble!

That was a great storm last night! I didn't expect the lightning and thunder so early. According to the Weather Network and a couple of other resources for radar I use, it didn't seem as though Fredericton was going to get any potential thunderstorms until around 2:30/3:00 and then around 4am. But just after midnight it let loose!

So, I was surprised today when I went for my walk. I had guessed given the torrents of rain last night that there'd be a bit of a rise in the water levels, but the underpass (the old train bridge), which was almost bone dry the other day, well it was filled with water and I think exceeded the level at it's highest point during last week and that was true for most of the areas until I got to Officer Square.

Weather has been hell on the body. Back is bad, toes are swollen, but nicer weather is coming on Monday and for the remainder of the week.

Huzzah! My video uploaded... Sorry about the wind interference, it sucks I know, but I don't think there's any 'wind socks' for cellphones. MovieMaker doesn't have much help in the audio department to cancel it out, so all i could really do was reduce the overall volume of the clips

My awesome neighbors invited me over for burgers tonight. Brad (my neighbor) has a charcoal BBQ, so much better than gas, the taste is soooo good. Love my neighbors, they rule. The other week for Brad's birthday they invited me over for steak (done on the charcoal BBQ too). LOVE BBQ!

When I did my old 'Dvlogs' (most of which have been made 'private' for personal reasons), my roomies and I used to have 'BBQ Sunday', and each Sunday one person would be in charge of buying the steaks for the house and I'd BBQ them. I've never been much for cooking, but BBQing is primal, it works for me. I love the smell of the smoke, I love the smell of the smoke on me and I'm actually pretty good at cooking steaks... Not so good with chicken or burgers, but the guys nominated me the house chef for BBQs. I'd try to get the guys to buy the steaks on Friday and then I'd marinate them from Saturday morning until supper time on Sunday evening. So good!

Been watching old Metallica live vids today on Youtube, so i'll leave you with Metallica live from Seattle in 1989. It's pretty decent footage and audio quality. So crank 'er.

Party hard! It's Saturday night... I'ma go fall on ma face.

BONUS video: (Last night's storm. i had tried to catch some lightning, but each time I rolled with recording, the lightning would stop. So, if anything, maybe play it on a loop to put you to sleep to the soothing sounds of my voice and rain with some rumbles of thunder here and there)

Warning! It Could Be A Bad Weekend...

Was out today and the water was up from yesterday. Didn't take any pics and just shot one video.

So, just got 'Special Weather Statement from Environment Canada'. Crazy part is, it's valid from about 5PM Friday, until get this.... 8PM Tuesday night!
AND, like I have said. Winter is never quite over until June AND in this 'Weather Statement' it says we MAY see snow... HA! Welcome to the butthole of Canada, seems we're having a bit of diarrhea! Haha!

Here's the bulletin from Environment Canada for Fredericton (There's also warnings for other parts of the Province, including Saint John and Bathurst).

"Two more rainfall events are expected, one for tonight, and the next beginning on Sunday.
The first event will be caused by a low that will pass north of the province tonight. Rain will begin in the west this evening and move east across the province. The rain will end over most areas in the morning. Rainfall amounts are expected to be 20 to 30 mm in
the north, with locally higher amounts possible due to thundershowers tonight. Rainfall warnings are in effect over the northern part of New Brunswick.

In the south rainfall amounts will be up to 20 mm, but there is also a slight possibility of thundershowers in the southwest corner of the province giving higher amounts. Finally, after the low passes, strong west to northwesterly winds are expected Saturday morning, possibly gusting to 60 kilometres per hour over open areas, then gradually diminishing in the afternoon.

After this there will be little or no precipitation until late Sunday, when another disturbance will give mainly rain that will end on Monday morning. However, over northern New Brunswick this will be mixed with or change to light snow. There is still some uncertainty in rainfall amounts or location, but at this time are expected to be between 10 to 20 mm for northern New Brunswick, and snowfall amounts should be very light. Lesser amounts are expected further south.
After this, conditions should improve, with no rain expected for most of next week.

Due to the generally saturated soil conditions for most of the province, and remaining snow pack in the northern part of the province, the rainfall expected tonight and Sunday night will cause water levels to rise or at least stay constant into early next week
."

Should be an entertaining weekend.....

Out Again in the Flood

Man, screw YouTube! Seriously. Ok, the video 'content' is the same subject, but it's not a fucking duplicate video.
I edit the video together, go to upload it to my account and when it's done it "rejects" the video because it's a "Duplicate of another video" - Which it clearly is not. The only area that I even shot footage at that was the same as past videos was along the green. I call total bullshit. Their "fix", add more content or edit your video.. Fuck you. I'll upload it here instead... Grumble grumble.. Fucking Youtub....

ok. NO video ... 'Blogger' won't upload it either..... Trying Google Drive... What a pain in the ass.

Beat up day. Temperature went from +25 yesterday to around +6 this morning, with a high around +12 - That's the kinda weather that really screws with me. Thanfully those kinds of temperature swings only happen in the Spring and Fall.

Here's the link to todays video... Couldn't even get an 'Embedded' version... Pftt!! Pfttttttt!

'Back & To The Left'

Beautiful day! +25! W00t!

Was out and aboot for the day. Went to South Paw to pick up 'Satan Kitty's' food and treats then went downtown. I usually pop in King's Place to gawk at the freaks for a while, then I made my way down to the river to check out the situation.
Water is down a bit today, but certainly not enough to take people off edge. Traffic is still snarled (which I think is great for these pompous Fredericton drivers who are always in such a hurry to get nowhere they ain't gonna eventually get to... I like watching them sit in traffic. In BIG cities, you sit in jams for half your working years. I think it does this sometimes overly smug city good to sit and stir in their own automobiles!)...

Rain is coming soon, they say, and they also 'say' that we've got thunderstorms coming... I ain't holding my breath, when I get worked up that a storms coming it usually turns into a dud. So fingers crossed. We already had a storm last month, was odd to see thunder while snow was still about.

Here's today's vid:

'Back & To The Left' - I dunno where I found 'Texas Is The Reason', but they was a band from New York City. yeah, I think it mighta been when Napster was around and I was just browsing through different bands and stumbled upon them... Awesome Post-Punk/Hardcore band. They were one of those acts that kicked ass, but didn't catch on, then they did this LAST tour before they broke up and everyone came out to see them... That's gotta suck a bit.
Check 'em out:
Texas Is The Reason - A Jack With One Eye

You´re not telling me nothing that I haven´t (2x)
Heard before
Nothing that I haven't

You´ll have to try harder than that
You´ll have to dig deeper than that
Reminds me of myself

You´ll have to try harder than that
You´ll have to dig deeper than that
Reminds me of yourself

You can´t hold your breath when you talk
Try not to let sound slip by
I come from inside you
Raise it up so I can see
Just what you´re doing to me
Do you even know why?

You can't hold your breath when you (vĂ¡rias vezes)
You can't hold your breath when you talk

Your place is still at the heart of my everything (and I gotta let you know?)

I love bands that have 'epic' songs. The songs that are long (Tim Rayne chastises me frequently that The Wasteland Zombies songs are too long)... But I dig that. I love songs that have a lot of meat to 'em. Songs that have great crescendo's and soundscapes.

A band that isn't like that and is also no longer functional, The Deadlights were from Long Beach California.
Well holy, I had no idea until fact checking on The Deadlights that their singer 'Duke' Williams had passed away. That sucks, he was a cool cat.
I think they only managed to get out one album. 'Sweet Oblivion' was the 'single' and most known of their songs. They had some pretty hardcore music, then they'd have songs like 'Sweet Oblivion'

The Deadlights - Sweet Oblivion
Sweet Oblivion

Sweet oblivion
Don't leave me waiting too long
Once we were a tease
We had everything we could ask for, here in your cold embrace
There is no distance or time
But in such sweet solitude
My pain starts to fade away

Meet me in the bathroom and I'll show you everything
I'll give you something that you can belive in
You kept me waiting
Waiting for oh so long
Don't leave me standing here

Sweet oblivion
Don't leave me waiting too long
Cuz when I lost my mind
You're the only one I could
turn to Perpetuate, but I'd be wasting my time
I've finally realized you're the only on that I needed

Meet me in the bathroom and I'll show you everything
I'll give you something that you can believe in
You kept me waiting
Waiting for oh so long
Don't leave me standing here
All this filth and disease that brought us all to our knees, but the faithful will keep holding on
When all that they're living for is gone
to never see the sun

The River Rises!!

[UPDATING finished - Now with exclusive photos!]

Well I hadn't planned on pix and vid today when I went out. As far as news on the flood was concerned, I had been reading that levels had remained the same over the last several days. But when I got to York & Brunswick street, I saw a huge barricade, guards and a lot of people looking down Brunswick... With good reason... The Waters is up a LOT!

That's a lot more water than a few days ago.

While in Kings Place I heard two disturbing bits of rumor; 1. That the water is going to surpass the 2008 levels (deemed the worst flood in the last 30 years or so). 2. That the Princess Margaret St. bridge is going to close (and then I heard it was closed, but I haven't seen any actual news on that, which IF they closed that bridge, it'd be BIG news and CBC would be reporting on it). IF, they close the Princess Margaret Bridge, well that's gonna screw the city big time. All the people who live on the Northside will have one direct way and several indirect ways to get home. They'd have to drive to like Mactaquac, where the dam is, which is like 30km away and then drive back down the other side of the river to get home.
So crazy!
Here's video from today:

Weird mood today... Came home and had the urge to listen to No Doubt.... I'm not a huge fan, only like the 'hits'... Which, I have their 'Greatest Hits' CD, so threw that on...

I also noticed today that I have two of 'The Prodigy' albums... I can't remember ever buying those lol...

Keep your rubber boots and a canoe handy!

He Is (A Religious Song)

We're standing here by the abyss and the world is in flames
Two star-crossed lovers reaching out to the beast with many names

He is
He's the shining and the light without whom I cannot see
And he is
Insurrection, he is spite, he's the force that made me be
He is
Nostro dis pater, nostr' alma mater
He is

We're hiding here inside a dream and all our doubts are now destroyed
The guidance of the morning stars will lead the way into the void

He is
He's the shining and the light without whom I cannot see
And he is
Insurrection, he is spite, he's the force that made me be
He is
Nostro dis pater, nostr' alma mater
He is

He is
He's the shining and the light without whom I cannot see
And he is
Insurrection, he is spite, he's the force that made me be
He is
He's the shining and the light without whom I cannot see
And he is
The disobedience that holds us together
He is

Nostro dis pater, nostr' alma mater

And we are falling over the precipice
